Tire Replacement in Iowa Falls, IA at Dale Howard Auto Center

Your tires wear down over time with regular use. Going too long without a tire replacement can put you and your passengers in danger. Get your tires replaced now at Dale Howard Auto Center.

Why Tire Replacement is Important

All tires are made with grooves in them to give them tread so that they can grip the pavement and avoid slipping and sliding. Over time, the tires lose their groove in what’s known as tread wear. They eventually get to a point where the tire is smooth enough that it cannot grip the pavement as easily.

This is especially hazardous in wet conditions such as rain, ice, and snow, where the car could hydroplane or slide on the ice. Getting your tires replaced can save you from getting into serious accidents.

When You Should Get Your Tires Replaced

New tires can last 50,000 miles or more, depending on how often you drive and the conditions you drive in. Unless your tires are flat, have a bulge, or are noticeably damaged, you shouldn’t have to replace them more often than every 4 years or so.

When it is time to get them replaced due to routine tread wear, you can check the tread depth to know for sure. Tires should be replaced when the tread depth is 2/32 of an inch.

The Tire Replacement Process

Step 1

First, our expert technicians will lift your car and remove the lugnuts, wheels, and tires. They’ll work counterclockwise starting with the front left wheel.

Step 2

Next, after inspecting the wheels to make sure there’s no damage, they’ll place the new tires on the wheels and attach, seal, and balance them.

Step 3

Next, they’ll install the wheels back on your vehicle and tighten the lug nuts before lowering the car.

Step 4

Lastly, they’ll align the wheels to ensure your car steers easily.

Cost of Tire Replacement

The cost of a tire replacement varies due to the type of tires your car needs. You’ll have to buy each tire individually in addition to paying for the installation. Lower-end tires range from $50-$150 each while higher-end tires range from $300-$1,000 each.
